On April 26th, ULI Baltimore Young Leaders met at Suspended Brewery to try one-of-a-kind brews and learn about nearby revitalization efforts. A short distance from Camden Yards, Pigtown is seeing new small businesses come to the community including the Suspended Brewery. On April 16th, ULI Baltimore’s Young Leaders Group hosted a signature speaker event for all ULI members featuring Ellen Dunham-Jones. Ellen led an engaging presentation highlighting current trends affecting the viability of suburban shopping centers and the quality of life challenges sprawl has presented over time. She discussed different strategies communities can use: re-inhabitation of existing structures through adaptive reuse for community uses, redevelopment of sites through the replacement of old structures or building on parking lots and regreening through the revitalization of natural systems on previously developed land. On March 7, a group of 39 Young Leader Mentees and 10 industry-experienced Mentors gathered for the annual Mentor Roundtable at The Engineer’s Club in Mt. Vernon. This event serves as the prelude to the full ULI Baltimore Partnership Forum program.
