About the Fayette Street Outreach Organization
This organization started out of the need of the residents o this community. Like other communities that were facing drug activity that was causing their community to go down, they came together, and became powerful and build leadership within the community.
In 1993 some residents of Fayette Street came together to form a community organization. They would meet at 2133 W. Fayette Street. The residents had several times before putting to a vote to form a community organization. Our first meeting took place at Bon Secours Community Room on August 24, 1993 in which there was standing room only. Our First guest speaker was then our State Delegate Elijah E. Cummings. There was a vote taken on that day to name the organization Fayette Street Outreach. From that day to this day and beyond.
About the St. Francis Neighborhood Center
St. Francis Neighborhood Center is the oldest neighborhood center providing enrichment in all of Baltimore City! Our mission is committed to ending generational poverty through education, inspiring self-esteem, self-improvement, and strengthening connections to the community.
Our presence has served as a resource and catalyst for improving the lives of those in Reservoir Hill and making Baltimore a better place since 1963. We were founded to serve a growing segment of our community in need of inaccessible services. We have continued to grow with the help of our donors and volunteers who make our mission possible. Through the years our purpose still remains the same: bring services to those in need.
SFNC is mostly known for their youth development and resource programs for youth and families living in poverty, with over 1,200 youth in their area living below the federal poverty line.
