YLG Giving Back: Powhatan Park Beautification
Volunteers will work with Blue Water Baltimore and Neighborspace Baltimore County to plant perennials and shrubs donated by the estate of Joanna Hastings-Kiessling; Joanna was a Master Naturalist who passed away this past winter. Volunteers will also help to remove weeds and invasive plants and remove trash in preparation for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the park on June 9.
About the event:
Powhatan Park is having a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 9th and the ULI Baltimore Young Leaders are going to help make the final touch-ups to the park to make it ready to go. Tasks will include planting trees, weeding, crop removal, and more.
We will be outdoors for the entire event and the organizational policy regarding their events is for them to work rain or shine (excluding lightning). Please wear labor appropriate clothing you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes. After the event, we will reconvene at a bar for drinks.
Location: Powhatan Park, Norvo Road (where it dead-ends), Woodlawn 21207
