    The Mentor Roundtable program is a chance to meet with established professionals and discuss a variety of career related topics. Each Mentor will rotate to a different table of approximately 3-4 Young Leaders, for approximately 10-15 minutes each. Additionally, more information will be provided on the upcoming 8-month long 2021 Partnership Forum mentoring program.

    The discussions amongst each group include topics such as the following:
    Personal experience and history in the industry
    How you or your company participates in the Development process
    How you interact with other professionals in the industry, both through and outside of ULI
    What your thoughts are on the future of Development and/or your specific role in the industry
    Challenges you have encountered and overcome during your career
    What is the best career achievement or project you have been involved in
    How recent changes in the economy have affected your sector of the industry

    Due to social distancing guidelines, attendance is limited. This event will sell out.

    Thomas Nelson

    St John Properties, Inc

    Tom has been with St. John Properties since 2009. He oversees the company’s Interior Construction department and manages all tenant build-out activities. He oversees construction in excess of $150MM annually. Tom earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture with a concentration in Urban Studies and City Planning from Columbia University in New York City.

    Jeffrey H. Ratnow is the owner and founder or Site Insight a Baltimore City headquartered real estate investment, development advisory and project management firm focused on both ground up development and affordable housing. Site Insight provides expertise and guidance to developers, investors, landowners, governmental agencies, architects, community development corporations, banks, and real estate attorneys for the development of land and real estate, community development and affordable housing.

    Kuo Pao Lian

    Kuo Pao Lian BIO Kuo Pao Lian is a Principal and Co-founder of PI.KL Studio – an award-winning practice engaged in architecture, design/build and micro-development. He is a licensed architect and contractor whose experience includes architecture, design build and real estate development. He currently serves as a Member of the Public Art Commission for the Baltimore Office of Promotion and The Arts (BOPA), Chair of the Fells Point Design Review Committee (FDRC), a member of the Major Capital Improvements Committee for the Friends of Patterson Park, and a unionized Set Designer for the I.A.T.S.E. Local 487 with experience in award winning television shows and films for HBO, Netflix, and Apple. His professional experience and subsequent collaborations span from boutique residential and commercial projects to institutional and urban design proposals. Kuo Pao’s design work and various collaborations have been published nationally and abroad and have received numerous awards with ULI Baltimore, AIA Baltimore, Maryland, and Delaware. His previous experience also includes teaching at the School of Architecture + Planning at Morgan State University and the Architectural Design department for the Maryland Institute College of Art where he focused on introduction to design, 3D computational applications, and advanced architectural design studio.

    Owen Rouse

    Vice President of Investment Sales, MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services, LLC

    OWEN ROUSE is a Vice President With MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate and is responsible for the firm's Investment Sale function, representing both buyers and sellers in regional investment real estate transactions. Prior to joining MacKenzie, Owen Rouse was with Manekin, LLC as the firm’s Director, Capital Markets, responsible for the capital raising and investment related activities and in a prior role spearheaded Manekin’s Brokerage and Investment Sales divisions. . Mr. Rouse’s 35-year career in commercial real estate has covered several disciplines including acquisition, disposition, lending, construction, appraisal, asset and portfolio management, loan workouts and various consulting assignments with a broad range of clients. His career includes approximately $850 million in both acquisition / disposition volume in all the major property types. Prior to joining Manekin in 1995, Mr. Rouse was employed by Alex. Brown Realty Advisors, which through a series of mergers now operates as Jones Lang LaSalle. A former president of the local chapter of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties, Mr. Rouse served as President of CORFAC International, one of world’s largest commercial real estate services organizations. Mr. Rouse has lectured at the Berman School of Real Estate at Johns Hopkins University, served on the Presidential Advisory Council for Stevenson University. He is past Board President for Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity and is a board member of the same currently . A resident of Baltimore, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College) and a Masters in Business Administration from the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola University in Maryland.

    PAVLINA ILIEVA BIO Pavlina Ilieva is Principal and Co-founder of PI.KL Studio – an award-winning practice engaged in architecture, design/build and micro-development. She specializes in wearing many hats and integrating everyday design process across disciplines. The firm’s work spans across the commercial, workplace and urban housing scales as well as varied community-based and open space projects for non-profit organizations, private and local government entities. Pavlina serves as Chair of the Urban Design and Architecture Advisory Panel (UDAAP) for the Baltimore City Department of Planning, which provides design review and professional design assistance for significant projects and master plans throughout the city. An experienced educator, she also served as Program Director of the Undergraduate Architecture and Environmental Design Program at Morgan State University and is recipient of national ACSA Architectural Education Awards for her work in fostering diversity in Beginning Design Pedagogy and Housing Design Education. She has published, lectured and juried nationally and is a 2018 Fellow of the Landscape Architecture Foundation CSI Program.
